Management of pneumatosis intestinalis in children over the age of 6 months: A conservative approach

Nellihela L, et al. - This retrospective study aimed to appraise the management and long-term outcome of Pneumatosis intestinalis (PI) in children beyond the early infantile period by reviewing the patient’s records and radiological images. A benign course was noted by PI in children who were not on chemotherapy or immunosuppressant appears. It appeared to be responsive to conservative management. Contrary to what was observed in the adults, portal venous gas and pneumoperitoneum did not speculate the requirement of surgical intervention.
