Katz ML, et al. - Researchers aimed to assess hypertension and hyperlipidemia management patterns in youth with type 1 diabetes. In addition, they evaluated perceived effectiveness of management strategies and barriers to management. Until nonmedication interventions were ineffective, pediatric diabetes providers commonly deferred in prescribing antihypertensive and lipid-lowering medications. Most providers described medications as often effective, but not lifestyle interventions.
