Management of dyslipidaemia in patients with coronary heart disease: Results from the ESC-EORP EUROASPIRE V survey in 27 countries
Atherosclerosis Apr 27, 2019
De Backer G, et al. – Researchers examined the implementation of European guidelines on the management of dyslipidemias in coronary patients in the ESC-EORP EUROASPIRE V survey. Trained technicians used standardized methods to derive information from the medical records and at a visit at least 6 months following hospitalization for a coronary event. The study sample consisted of 7,824 patients from 130 centers in 27 countries. Less than optimal management of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels was evident in the majority of coronary patients. Findings support the call for more professional approaches, focusing on lifestyle changes and LDL-C-lowering drug therapy adapted to the requirement of the individual patient.
