Management of accessory parotid gland tumors: 32-year experience from a single institution and review of the literature
International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Mar 17, 2019
Luksic I, et al. - Data from 13 candidates with primarily surgically treated accessory parotid gland tumors (APGTs) with a mean age at diagnosis of 41.1 years were studied to estimate the surgical treatment and management of accessory parotid gland tumors (APGTs). They observed pleomorphic adenoma among 53.8% of cases as the most common benign histological subtype and mucoepidermoid carcinoma (23.1%) as the most common in malignant counterparts. They reported a malignancy rate of 38.5%. Only a single death due to locoregional recurrence was recorded with satisfactory postoperative results.
