Management and outcomes of pregnancy with or without lupus nephritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management Jun 03, 2018
Wu JY, et al. - Study authors attempted to determine the association of lupus nephritis (LN) with management and pregnancy outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients through a systematic review and meta-analysis. They carefully searched Embase, Medline, Cochrane, and ClinicalTrials.gov for relevant English and Chinese language studies. An aggregate of two thousand, nine hundred eighty-seven articles were reviewed. By a modified version of the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and the STROBE checklist, risk of bias was assessed. A significant association was found between the aforementioned outcomes and SLE pregnant patients with LN. Findings revealed that LN increased the risks for adverse pregnancy outcomes and the use of medication in patients with SLE. Results of this study suggested that special treatment and close monitoring should be allocated to pregnant women with LN.
