Management and long-term outcome of type ii acute odontoid fractures: A population-based consecutive series of 282 patients
The Spine Journal Dec 27, 2020
Rizvi SAM, Helseth E, Harr ME, et al. - A retrospective study was performed to ascertain the long-term outcome after conservative and surgical treatments of type II odontoid fracture (all age-groups) to evaluate whether nonoperative treatment yields an acceptable outcome. Researchers recruited a total of 282 consecutive patients with type II odontoid fracture (OFx) who treated at Oslo University Hospital over an 8-year period. This study’s findings demonstrate that the primary conservative treatment of elderly patients with type II OFx seems to be safe and should be regarded as a viable treatment option.
