Mammographic density changes following discontinuation of tamoxifen in premenopausal women with oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancer
European Radiology Jul 10, 2018
Kim WH, et al. - The changes in mammographic density after tamoxifen discontinuation in premenopausal women with oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancers and the underlying factors were assessed in this analysis. Participants in the study were 213 consecutive premenopausal women with breast cancer who received tamoxifen treatment after curative surgery and underwent three mammograms. Using univariate and multivariate regression analyses, the relationship between % density change and clinicopathological factors was assessed. The findings suggested that increased mammographic density after tamoxifen discontinuation can occur in premenopausal women. Data reported that mean density increase after tamoxifen discontinuation was 1.8%. It was observed that density increase was correlated with age and density decrease after tamoxifen.
