Malnutrition in type 2 diabetic patients does not affect healing of foot ulcers
Acta Diabetologica Oct 07, 2018
Rouland A, et al. - In this prospective, single-center study, researchers assessed whether the nutritional status of diabetic patients influences the healing of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). A total of 48 study participants were followed-up over 24 weeks. All individuals with comorbidities or factors involving malnutrition or affecting biological measurements were excluded. The investigators did not observe any association of rate and speed of wound healing with malnutrition at inclusion, and did not find any evidence supporting nutritional intervention to improve wound healing in diabetic patients.
