de Blasio F, et al. - In chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, prevalence of malnutrition and sarcopenia was determined using international diagnostic criteria and their relationships with raw bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) variables were also studied. Findings demonstrated a relatively high prevalence of malnutrition and sarcopenia in this patient population, with some discrepancy between the two diagnoses. Researchers observed clear-cut changes in raw BIA variables in malnourished patients with systemic inflammation and sarcopenic patients.
