Malformations of the lateral semicircular canal correlated with data from the audiogram
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Feb 10, 2019
Venkatasamy A, et al. - Authors retrospectively studied 109 subjects to assess the prevalence and type of hearing losses correlated with lateral semicircular canal (LSCC) malformations in comparison to control group. They observed 60.9% of cases presented with an audiogram-confirmed hearing loss, especially sensorineural (SHNL) (39.2%) and mixed (MHL) (12.7%), in the LSCC group. They recorded normal hearing in 39.2% of candidates. They noticed an association of bilateral LSCC malformations with hearing loss (80.7%) and SNHL (33.3%). A high rate (81%) of contralateral abnormalities of the audiogram was significantly recorded.
