Major adverse kidney events within 30 days in patients with acute pancreatitis: A tertiary-center cohort study
HPB Jun 26, 2021
Zhang X, Ye B, Mao W, et al. - This retrospective study was conducted to determine the event rate of major adverse kidney events within 30 days (MAKE30) in acute pancreatitis (AP) as well as its potential risk factors. For all AP patients who were admitted within 72 h post-onset of abdominal pain between June 2015 and June 2019, data were analyzed. Total enrollees were 295 patients and MAKE30 occurred in 16%. For individual components, the estimated incidence for death, new renal replacement therapy, and for persistent renal dysfunction was 3%, 15%, and 5%, respectively. Findings revealed that AP patients commonly experienced MAKE30. The two independent risk factors for MAKE30 included hyperchloremia and SOFA score at admission.
