Maintenance use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and risk of gastrointestinal cancer in a nationwide population-based cohort study in Sweden
BMJ Open Jul 13, 2018
Brusselaers N, et al. - This nationwide Swedish population-based cohort study evaluated the relationship between contemporary non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) use (≥ 180 days) and gastrointestinal cancer. Participants using maintenance NSAIDs were enrolled during the study period from 2005 to 2012. It was concluded that long-term use of (low-dose) aspirin and non-selective NSAIDs was correlated with a reduced risk of all gastrointestinal cancer types.
