Magnetic resonance imaging assessment of body composition parameters in Crohn disease
Digestive and Liver Diseases Jul 04, 2020
Labarthe G, Dolores M, Verdalle-Cazes M, et al. - In this study, the feasibility of MRI body composition measurement was analyzed and the variation according to the activity of the disease was compared. Researchers examined a cohort of 132 consecutive patients. They assessed the visceral adiposity index, subcutaneous adiposity index (SAI), and skeletal muscle index. Individuals were classified into 2 groups according to disease activity. They characterized sarcopenic status according to the cut off value (SMI < 38.9 cm 2/m 2 in women and < 54.4 cm 2/m 2 in men). It was shown that in routine MR, evaluation of body composition is beneficial and reproducible, and parameters are related to disease activity.
