Macrophage activation syndrome in Still's disease: Analysis of clinical characteristics and survival in paediatric and adult patients

Ruscitti P, et al. - This investigation was pursued to clinically characterize Still’s disease patients developing macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) and to determine their outcomes. In both paediatric and adult patients affected by Still’s disease, MAS occurrence resulted in a significant reduction of survival rate. At the time of diagnosis, the presence of high levels of serum ferritin and an elevated systemic score was found to be significantly related to MAS.
