Lymphocyte infiltration prognostic test for colon cancer
European Journal of Cancer Aug 10, 2017
Emile J-F et al. – In the current study, lymphocyte infiltration (LI) was verified to have prognostic value in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.
Methods
- LI was compared in 1220 CRC patients with low and high LI for 2-y survival and recurrence.
Results
- LI was high, low, and not evaluable in 241, 790, and 189 of 1220 patients, respectively.
- The 2-year recurrence rate was 14.4% and 21.1% in patients with high and low LI, respectively.
- Patients with high LI had better DFS and OS.
- Tumour stage, grade, RAS status, and BRAF status were prognostic markers with LI for OS.
- High LI had better DFS and OS in mismatch repair (MMR)-proficient patients and in patients without RAS mutation, but not in MMR-deficient and RAS-mutated patients.
