Lymphadenectomy in Gleason 7 prostate cancer: Adherence to guidelines and effect on clinical outcomes
Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Sep 20, 2017
Chandrasekar T, et al. - The target of this paper was to contemplate the usage trends, guideline adherence, and survival data for patients undergoing lymphadenectomy (LND) at the time of radical prostatectomy (RP) for Gleason 7 prostate cancer (PCa). It was determined that the role of LND for Gleason 7 prostate adenocarcinoma was not yet standardized. This was displayed by the variability of LND dissection rates. Receipt of LND did not improve cancer-specific mortality (CSM) and in G43 patients. Higher CSM was speculated. As the effect of LND on CSM was uncertain, additional research was required of the oncologic benefit in the study cohort.
