Lymph node yield and lymph node density for elective level II–IV neck dissections in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma patients
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Oct 01, 2019
Cayonu M, Tuna EU, Acar A, et al. - In patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCCs), researchers determined the minimum lymph node yield (LNY). This investigation was conducted in a tertiary care hospital setting. Participants in the study were 42 LSCC patients (aged 39 to 81 years) who had a total or partial laryngectomy and elective bilateral level II–IV neck dissections. According to this retrospective study, the average LNY in the unilateral level II–IV lymph node dissections was 25.9 ± 10, and the average metastatic LNY was 0.9 ± 1.9. According to the number of lymph nodes, the unilateral neck dissections were grouped. The findings showed no minimum number of lymph nodes in patients with LSCC that could reliably detect metastatic lymph nodes.
