Lymph node ratio (LNR) as a complementary staging system to TNM staging in salivary gland cancer
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Sep 18, 2019
Lei BW, Hu JQ, Yu PC, et al. - Since the role of lymph node ratio (LNR, ratio of metastatic to examined nodes) in the staging of multiple human malignancies has been reported, researchers assessed its value in salivary gland cancer (SGC). For univariate and multivariate analysis, log-rank χ2 test and Cox proportional hazards model were used. According to findings, the LNR was clearly identified as an independent SGC prognostic factor, and the R classification (LNR = 0, LNR = 0–0.17, LNR = 0.17–0.56 and LNR > 0.56) adequately defines SGC mortality. R-classification-based patient stratification for postoperative therapy and clinical trials merits further investigation.
