Lymph node evaluation in robot-assisted vs video-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: A propensity-matched analysis
World Journal of Surgery Jan 30, 2018
Chao YK, et al. - In a retrospective manner, researchers assessed the adequacy of lymph node dissection (LND) along the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) performed with robot-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy (RATE) vs video-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy (VATE) in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). RATE compared to VATE resulted in a higher lymph node yield along the left RLN without increasing morbidity in these patients.
