Luminally-polarized mural and vascular remodeling in ileal strictures of Crohn's disease
Human Pathology Mar 22, 2018
Zhang X, et al. - An exploration was performed of the microanatomical alterations during intestinal stricture in order to comprehend the pathogenesis and to devise appropriate treatments in patients with Crohn's disease (CD)-associated ileal strictures. Data illustrated that the fibromuscular remodeling which resulted in CD-associated ileal strictures predominantly involved the muscularis mucosae (MM) and submucosal vasculature in a luminally-polarized fashion. Yielded findings indicated that mucosal-based factors served as possible contributory factors to stricture pathogenesis.
