Kim SJ, et al. - Researchers sought to investigate the association of preoperative Hounsfield unit (HU) in hip computed tomography (CT) with intra-operative osteoporotic fracture during cementless hemiarthroplasty. Findings of this retrospective study demonstrated that HU evaluation using preoperative CT scan was related to the presence of intra-operative fracture during bipolar hemiarthroplasty. As per the researchers' belief, HU values of the proximal femur could be used to assess local bone quality.
