Lower complication rate and faster return to sports in patients with acute syndesmotic rupture treated with a new knotless suture button device
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy Dec 14, 2017
Colcuc C, et al. - Herein, clinical outcomes, complication rates, and time to return to sports were compared in patients treated for ankle syndesmotic injury with a knotless suture button device or syndesmotic screw fixation. Researchers presumed that knotless suture button devices eliminate knot irritation and facilitate a quicker return to sports. They found that both treatment strategies afforded good clinical outcomes. Owing to lower complication rate and the earlier time to return to sports associated with the new knotless suture button device, it should be recommended for treating such patient population, especially for highly active patients.
