Lower body mass index is not of more benefit for diabetic complications
Journal of Diabetes Investigation Feb 11, 2019
Zhang Y, et al. - In type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, researchers examined the association between different body mass index (BMI) levels and vascular complications. Using a retrospective case study design, they collected data from 3,224 people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. According to findings, the connection between different BMIs and vascular complications varies in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. A U-shaped relationship between BMI and diabetic peripheral neuropathy, BMI and peripheral arterial disease was observed. BMI is not positively correlated with diabetic retinopathy, but with diabetic kidney disease and carotid atherosclerotic plaque.
