Low STYK1 expression indicates poor prognosis in gastric cancer
Cancer Management and Research Dec 13, 2018
Fang J, et al. - In order to assess the relationship between serine threonine tyrosine kinase 1 (STYK1) protein expression and the patients’ clinicopathological features in gastric cancer (GC), researchers evaluated STYK1 expression in GC tissues and the corresponding normal tissues from 93 patients with GC using immunohistochemical staining. GC tissues displayed decreased STYK1 expression. Observations revealed a significant correlation of downregulated STYK1 expression with poor tumor differentiation, advanced clinical stage, and poor overall survival (OS) in GC. STYK1 might serve as a diagnostic and prognostic indicator for patients with GC.
