Low red blood cell count as an early indicator for myometrial invasion in women with endometrioid endometrial carcinoma with metabolic syndrome
Cancer Management and Research Nov 02, 2020
Tong Y, Xie X, Mao X, et al. - Researchers aimed at ascertaining the correlation between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its components and erythrocyte parameters such as red blood cell count (RBC) and hemoglobin (Hb) levels, and their relationship with the risk of deep myometrial invasion in endometrioid endometrial carcinoma (EEC). Among 473 women diagnosed with EEC, MetS was prevalent in 18.8% (89/473). EEC patients with MetS had significantly higher RBC and Hb levels. Linear increase in RBC and Hb values was observed with the number of MetS components. Per findings, MetS influences the association between the erythrocyte parameters and myometrial invasion. Findings suggest RBC to be a risk factor of myometrial invasion in EEC patients with MetS and its components.
