Low-pressure monopolar electroresection of the prostate for glands sized > 70 vs. < 70 cc performed with continuous irrigation and suprapubic suction: Perioperative and long-term outcome
World Journal of Urology Jan 21, 2018
Wilhelm K, et al. - This research was executed in order to assess the long-term efficacy and safety of low-pressure transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for glands sized < 70 cc (group 1) vs. > 70 cc (group 2) in patients with benign prostate hyperplasia. When compared to the prostates measuring < 70 cc, the standardized monopolar TURP using suprapubic suction was disclosed to be non-inferior for prostates measuring > 70 cc. As per the results, this technique served as a low-cost alternative for clinics that could not afford modern laser approaches.
