Low postoperative blood platelet count may be a risk factor for 3-year mortality in patients with acute type A aortic dissection
Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery Oct 03, 2021
Liu G, Wang H, Luo Q, et al. - Patients who undergo open aortic repair surgery for acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) could experience increased 3-year mortality if they exhibit decreased postoperative platelet count.
A total of 495 patients with ATAAD who underwent Total Arch Replacement and Frozen Elephant Trunk were included.
Perioperative data were obtained and multivariate logistic regression was applied.
Post-correction for confounding factors, reduced postoperative platelet count continued to be an independent factor that was related to lower mortality (OR = 0.918).
