Low Hartmann's procedure or intersphincteric proctectomy for distal rectal cancer: A retrospective comparative cohort study
International Journal of Colorectal Disease Oct 13, 2017
Westerduin E, et al. - This retrospective comparative cohort study intended to compare postoperative morbidity with emphasis on pelvic abscesses after low HartmannÂs procedure (LH) or intersphincteric proctectomy (IP). After both LH and IP, pelvic abscesses appeared to occur at a similar rate. Although numbers were small, the present study did not support the previous reports from the literature implying that IP could be correlated with less infectious pelvic complications than LH.
