Peperstraete H, et al. - The feasibility, efficacy, and safety of low flow extracorporeal CO₂ removal (ECCO₂R) was explored in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) patients. Findings demonstrated that low flow ECCO₂R significantly reduced PaCO₂ (arterial carbon dioxide pressure) after 2 h. A high incidence of bleeding and circuit thrombosis was demonstrated in follow up during the entire ECCO₂R period.
