Peperstraete H, et al. - The feasibility, efficacy, and safety of low flow extracorporeal CO2 removal (ECCO2R) was explored in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) patients. Findings demonstrated that low flow ECCO2R significantly reduced PaCO2 (arterial carbon dioxide pressure) after 2 h. A high incidence of bleeding and circuit thrombosis was demonstrated in follow up during the entire ECCO2R period.
