Low fasting glucose and future risks of major adverse outcomes in people without baseline diabetes or cardiovascular disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
BMJ Open Jul 05, 2019
Liao HW, et al. - Through a systematic review and meta-analysis of 11 articles with 2,674,882 individuals without baseline diabetes and cardiovascular disease, experts assessed the connection between low fasting blood glucose levels and all-cause mortality and cardiovascular outcomes in this population. In comparison to subjects with normal fasting glucose, elevated risks of all-cause mortality, total stroke and major cardiovascular events among people with fasting glucose <4.0 mmol/L was observed through the pooled results from the random-effects model. No association of the low fasting glucose levels of <4.6 mmol/L was seen with an increase in risk for any endpoints.
