Low-dose vs standard-dose intravenous alteplase for octogenerian acute ischemic stroke patients: A multicenter prospective cohort study

Chao AC, et al. - In this multicenter prospective cohort study, researchers evaluated the effectiveness and safety of a low-dose (0.6 mg/kg) vs standard-dose (0.9 mg/kg) alteplase for varying severity of 249 Asian geriatric stroke patients. According to findings, standard-dose and low-dose alteplase were similar in reducing major disability in moderate and high severity patients, but low-dose alteplase for mild stroke exhibited significantly reduced mortality for octogenarians on day 90.
