Low-dose versus high-dose tranexamic acid reduces the risk of nonischemic seizures after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass

Couture P, et al. – This study analyzed the impact of tranexamic acid (TXA) on the incidence of postoperative nonischemic seizures in patients who underwent cardiac surgical procedures under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Furthermore, the possibility of prevention with a low–dose regimen of TXA was also examined. Findings revealed that lower doses versus higher doses of TXA were related to a lower incidence of nonischemic seizures.
