Low dose of flurbiprofen axetil decrease the rate of acute kidney injury after operation: A retrospective clinical data analysis of 9,915 cases
BMC Nephrology Feb 23, 2020
Wang D, Yang SK, Zhao MX, et al. - In this retrospective analysis with 9,915 patients, researchers assessed how postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) could be influenced by different doses of perioperative flurbiprofen axetil (FA). They analyzed patients non-using, using low dose (50-100 mg), middle dose (100-250 mg) and large dose (≧ 250 mg) of FA, for clinical features and postoperative AKI prevalence. In the overall participants and in 2,446 cases who used FA, the postoperative AKI prevalence was estimated to be 6.7% and 5.1%, respectively. A significantly less incidence of AKI was reported in low dose group vs non use group but large dose group vs non-use group demonstrated a significantly higher incidence of AKI. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, the low dose of FA was identified as a protective factor for postoperative AKI, and a large dose of FA was shown to confer a risk for postoperative AKI. The observed effect of FA on postoperative AKI was dose-dependent. As per the findings, an effective reduction in postoperative AKI incidence may be achieved by using low dose FA (50-100 mg) perioperatively.
