Low-dose methoxyflurane vs standard of care analgesics for emergency trauma pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis of pooled data
Journal of Pain Research Jan 22, 2021
Fabbri A, Borobia AM, Ricard-Hibon A, et al. - The efficacy and safety of low-dose methoxyflurane, which is an inhaled non-opioid analgesic, were compared with those of standard of care analgesics in adults with trauma-related pain. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis on pooled data from randomized controlled trials recognized via a systematic review. Statistically superior pain intensity difference was described with low-dose methoxyflurane vs standard of care analgesics. Based on findings, they suggest that consideration can be provided to methoxyflurane as an alternative to standard of care analgesics in pre-hospital and hospital settings for treatment of adult patients with acute trauma-related pain.
