Low-dose aspirin is safe and effective for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis following total knee arthroplasty

Faour M, et al. - Herein the experts compared two aspirin regimens (81-mg BID, 325-mg BID) with regard to the incidence of symptomatic deep venous thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, bleeding, and mortality within 90 days following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). For the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) following TKA, low-dose aspirin was not inferior to high-dose aspirin. In the prevention of VTE after TKA, low-dose aspirin could be considered a safe and efficacious agent.
