Low additive effect of hydroxychloroquine on Japanese patients with systemic lupus erythematosus taking calcineurin inhibitor
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Mar 25, 2019
Hanaoka H, et al. - From 2015 to 2016, researchers evaluated 103 candidates to study the consequence of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on Japanese subjects with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) taking calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs). Significant decline in the SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), prednisolone (PSL) doses, and cumulative flare rate were observed in subjects who received HCQ compared to those who did not. They obtained a less additive therapeutic influence in CNI users as compared to in users of other immunosuppressants (IS) in terms of reduction in SLEDAI and PSL dose.
