Loss of ARID1A expression is associated with DNA mismatch repair protein deficiency and favorable prognosis in advanced stage surgically resected esophageal adenocarcinoma
Human Pathology Dec 06, 2019
Lowenthal BM, Nason KS, Pennathur A, et al. - Tissue microarrays depicting 316 surgically resected esophageal adenocarcinomas without neoadjuvant treatment were assessed for ARID1A and mismatch repair (MMR) proteins by immunohistochemistry in order to ascertain whether ARID1A loss was related to prognosis and DNA MMR protein deficiency in esophageal adenocarcinoma. Results designated that in esophageal adenocarcinoma, loss of ARID1A expression was correlated with DNA MMR protein deficiency. Moreover, for people with locally advanced or metastatic esophageal adenocarcinomas, ARID1A loss was independently related to a more favorable prognosis.
