Longitudinal trends in renal function in chronic hepatitis B patients receiving oral antiviral treatment
Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics Nov 23, 2018
Udompap P, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, researchers compared longitudinal trends of renal function among hepatitis B virus (HBV) mono-infected patients receiving entecavir (ETV), tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), and adefovir (ADV) to untreated individuals. Participants in the study were 815 patients with chronic HBV infection. Findings revealed that patients receiving antiviral therapy experienced steeper renal function reduction than expected. Data reported that patients with HBV receiving antiviral therapy, especially TDF and ADV, experienced more rapid loss in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).
