Longitudinal trends in renal function in chronic hepatitis B patients receiving oral antiviral treatment
Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics Nov 01, 2018
Udompap P, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, researchers compared longitudinal trends of renal function among hepatitis B virus (HBV) mono-infected patients receiving entecavir, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), and adefovir (ADV) to untreated individuals. Study participants included 815 patients with chronic HBV infection. Results showed that patients receiving antiviral treatment experienced steeper reduction in renal function than expected. Overall, findings suggested that patients with HBV receiving antiviral therapy, especially TDF and ADV, experienced more rapid loss in estimated glomerular filtration rate.
