Longitudinal changes in volumetric breast density in healthy women across the menopausal transition
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Jun 15, 2019
Engmann NJ, et al. - In this investigation involving 2,586 women, researchers evaluated changes in volumetric breast density across the menopausal transition and factors that influence these changes. Dense breast volume (DV) was evaluated utilizing VolparaTM on mammograms across the time period. According to findings, high premenopausal dense volume was a strong predictor of higher dense volume reductions throughout the menopausal transition. Other risk factors for breast cancer including race, BMI, family history, alcohol and postmenopausal hormone therapy had no impact on menopausal transition change in DV.
