Acta Pediatrica Sep 23, 2021

Stefánsdóttir AR, Lúdvíksson BR, Árdal B, et al. - According to the findings, 46% of Icelandic individuals diagnosed with allergic diseases as childhood still had symptoms at the age of 29, which were usually mild, progressing from eczema in childhood to asthma and allergic rhinitis in adulthood.

  • Asthma prevalence was 23%, with four-year-olds being the most affected (28%).

  • Allergic rhinitis afflicted 30% of those aged 29 years old, however, it was not discovered before the age of two years.
