Longitudinal assessment of lung function in extremely prematurely born children
Pediatric Pulmonology Jan 13, 2018
Lo J, et al. - This paper incorporated an exploration of the small airway function in children born extremely prematurely. Furthermore, researchers analyzed the presence of an association between airway function in infancy and at 11-14 years. Findings illustrated that there was a tracking of airway function during childhood in those born extremely prematurely. A notable connection was also brought to light between airway resistance (Raw) at the first assessment and Raw, forced expiratory flow from 75% of vital capacity (FEF75), and forced expiratory volume at one second (FEV1) at 11-14 years.
