Longitudinal assessment of autonomic nervous system in patients with first demyelinating event suggestive of multiple sclerosis
European Journal of Neurology Jun 21, 2019
Habek M, et al. - A high proportion of patients with clinically isolated syndrome (pwCIS) show sympathetic adrenergic and sudomotor dysfunction, so researchers studied over a 2-year follow-up the development abnormalities of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in pwCIS. The study sample consisted of 121 pwCIS, who were followed for 2 years; data were available for 84 pwCIS after 2-year follow-up. Over a 2-year follow-up, a considerable number of pwCIS had worsening ANS abnormalities; magnetic resonance imaging parameters appeared to predict such abnormalities. No predictors for worsening or improving of Composite Autonomic Scoring Scale score were identified in this prospective cohort study.
