Long-term survival outcomes after liver resection for binodular hepatocellular carcinoma: A multicenter cohort study
The Oncologist May 31, 2019
Wang MD, et al. - Using a multicenter database, researchers performed this retrospective review to assess the prognosis in patients who underwent curative-intent liver resection for binodular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) without macrovascular invasion, given the prognosis after liver resection for multinodular (≥3 nodules) HCC is largely considered not to be favorable. Findings revealed the safety as well as the feasibility of liver resection in cases with binodular HCC. The procedure yielded acceptable perioperative and long-term outcomes. The factors that were identified as independent risk factors related to long-term survival outcomes post-operation were sum of two tumor sizes, size ratio and distribution, and distance between two nodules.
