Long-term survival in adult patients with severe acute lung failure receiving veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
Critical Care Medicine Oct 04, 2017
Enger TB, et al. - In adult patients with severe acute lung failure receiving veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, long-term survival, as well as risk factors for long-term mortality, were investigated. Although a possible vital role of acute illness factors in prediction of hospital outcomes was indicated in findings, it was also observed that these factors did not determine late mortality in hospital survivors. In this patient population, important determinants of long-term survival may be preexisting morbidity and functional ability at hospital discharge.
