Long-term survival effect of the interval between mastectomy and radiotherapy in locally advanced breast cancer

Cancer Management and Research Jul 25, 2018

Zhang WW, et al. - In locally advanced breast cancer treated with mastectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy, the long-term survival effect of the interval between surgery and postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) was evaluated in this retrospective study. Participants in the study were women with locally advanced breast cancer who had adjuvant chemotherapy and PMRT after mastectomy between 1999 and 2007. Results of this study suggested that the probability of locoregional recurrence, distant metastasis, and death is not increased by a delay in the start of PMRT in locally advanced breast cancer.
