Long-term risk and predictors of cardiovascular death in stable coronary artery disease: The CORONOR study
Coronary Artery Disease Nov 20, 2017
Bauters C, et al. - With an intent to fill the knowledge gap on the residual risk of cardiovascular death (CVD) in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) who receive modern secondary prevention, researchers undertook this study to analyze the causes of death and to determine predictors of CVD in the 5-year CORONOR registry. CVD was primarily attributed to death from heart failure (HF) and sudden death in stable CAD patients widely treated by secondary prevention medications. Additionally, simple baseline variables enabled CVD risk prediction. Findings call for novel therapeutic strategies for the high-risk patients.
