Long-term results of robotic anatomical segmentectomy for early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer
European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Mar 06, 2019
Nguyen D, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective review of 71 patients (36 men, 35 women, mean age 70 ± 12 years) who underwent robotic anatomical segmentectomy for early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to determine the long-term results of the procedure in these patients. As per univariable and multivariable analyses, statistically significant risk factors for lung cancer-specific death were advanced age and pathological upstaging. Outcomes support the safety and feasibility of robotic anatomical segmentectomy with mediastinal nodal dissection for these patients. They emphasize the critical significance of accurate preoperative clinical staging for long-term survival.
