Beekhuizen SR, et al. - In order to confirm the previously suggested possible superior outcomes of hemiarthroplasty, compared with arthrodesis for osteoarthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint, long-term outcomes (≥5 years after surgery) of both of these procedures were compared in this current study. After a mean follow-up period of 8.3 years, more favorable postoperative outcomes for hemiarthroplasty compared with arthrodesis were reported.
