Long-term postoperative control of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis recurrence by inserting a steroid-eluting, sinus-bioabsorbable device reduces the dosage of oral steroid
Auris Nasus Larynx Sep 23, 2018
Konno W, et al. - Authors evaluated the effectiveness of a steroid-eluting, sinus-bioabsorbable device in suppressing recurrence and lowering the use of oral steroids in local treatment following surgery for eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (ECRS). As per data, the oral steroid intake can be reduced with the insertion of a steroid-eluting, sinus-bioabsorbable device after ECRS. This treatment strategy can also suppress disease recurrence long-term. The study group receiving the stent vs the group receiving conventional therapy demonstrated a significant improvement in the olfactory dysfunction, CT score, and threshold, but the polyp score did not improve.
